Our story

It all begins with an idea. An idea which sparked the passion of founder, Devin Stoll, in 2020. During what we all know to be such an unusual time in our world, Devin took the time to formulate a plan on how to make a dream a reality. Insert: The Velvet Poppy Floral.

Devin opened The Velvet Poppy Floral in February of 2021 and proudly serves the incredible communities in which we live. The Velvet Poppy Floral offers every day and event florals as well as a women’s boutique, which has women’s apparel, home goods, and specialty gift items.

Devin’s design staff come from diverse backgrounds, experience in both fresh and silk arrangements, large scale floral installations, event work and the day to day, coupled with interior design experience and formal art training. Our design aesthetic is “garden style” and typically incorporates a line or gesture flower, face flowers, secondary flowers, filler flowers and premium greens

Devin is devoted to sourcing the freshest flowers for not only special events and occasions, but for everyday arrangements as well. A majority of our flowers are sourced locally by Bill Doran Co., a Rockford based, industry leading floral wholesaler who specializes in providing flowers exclusively to flower shops, NOT gas stations and supermarkets. We make weekly trips to their warehouse and hand pick the flowers that look the best and freshest, always trying to incorporate seasonal flowers and something special that will set us apart.
